It is midnight of the morning of the big announcement of our Year 2 Change project.
Let me start by saying that we welcome you to join us in our Year 2 Change challenge.

What exactly is the challenge?
Take one year to focus on changing one thing for your family forever.
It can be anything, it doesn’t have to be the same thing we pick.
If you are joining us, we’d love to hear about your goal!
Drum Roll Please…
As for us, anticipation has been a building both from interested readers and here at home.
We have been preparing and setting the stage and now it is time to let you in on the news.
This year’s Year 2 Change will be: Losing the Weight for Goode.
Two real parents, keeping it real and making real change. We want to get moving and get healthy this year and we having enlisted some friends to help along the way (more on that on another day). Oh and in true pun fashion, Goode actually means 3 different things:
1. Losing the weight for us (the Goodes).
We ultimately want to lose the weight to serve as a healthy example to Miss Add and to stick around and continue to enjoy the GOODe life
.
Weight has been a weighty issue for us for most of our lives.

But, we know that there is no time like the present to make a change that will change our future and we are going for it.
2. Losing the weight for life (for GOODe).
This isn’t a quick fix or a weight loss program. We will be using tried and true methods that have worked for us and some new things along the way.
If weight loss is your Year 2 Change goal, please know we aren’t experts and don’t intend on being experts…
We are just figuring this out as we go.
There WILL be successes and struggles.
There will NOT be a drastic unrealistic mentality (Read: Cookies will still have a role in our lives… just not a leading role anymore
).
Life change is what we are after… and normalcy is a big part in achieving that… even if it is a new normal.
3. Losing the weight for charity (for GOODe).
A lot of times when folks lose weight, they gain it right back… But we are determined to lose the weight and gain give it right back!
For every pound we lose, we are going to donate a pound of food to our friends over at Feeding Indiana’s Hungry (FIsH) and welcome you to join us in donating either to FIsH or your local pantry as a way to cheer everyone on that commits to our Year 2 Change.
As you know, hunger is a huge issue in Indiana and in our nation. Our goal is to help others gain awareness as we lose the weight.
Want to join us?
We already have a couple awesome friends ready to come along side us and celebrate this year of change… (details coming soon
).
But, how about you???
Would you like to take one year to focus on changing one thing for your family forever?
It can be anything, it doesn’t have to be weight loss.
If you are joining us, we’d love to hear what your goal is… email us, facebook us, or comment here and we will do our best to cheer you on as well!

Great goal! I am on the same mission this year which I started January first. So far over 10# and 10″ lost. I have much more to lose but it’s a good start.
My best advice is dedicate the time each day to workout. And count calories. And have fun! Always.
Best wishes!

Couldn’t agree more! I am using LoseIt.com for both
Love that site!
Congrats on your progress so far!
Welcome to the challenge

BTW: I love the idea on food donation. I sometimes help in my church’s food pantry ministry. I might have to donate pound for pound also. Thanks for the idea!
Cris @ GOODEness Gracious
Yay! We would love to inspire you to give a pound per pound!! The number of kiddos in the US that deal with hunger is staggering… When I saw the numbers for Indiana I was beyond shocked.

I love this idea and weight loss is definaetly been on my radar for some time. I will be talking to my family tonight to see if I can get all in too! My daughter Chels and grandson still live with us and we need to start setting a good example for him as well. I exercise regularly and have not lost any weight sine June. Lost inches though which is good but my eating has gotten out of my control again and all I have done is maintaine. Don’t get me wrong….not complaining about that but I need to work on food changes. This couldn’t of come along at a better time. Love the idea about donating pound for pound of food.

Yay! Welcome to the challenge! Food is going to be a challenge around here too– being a food blogger and all
BUT, I have a few friends up my sleeve that I think will help us with satisfying great recipes and ways to log it all to keep us on track.
Would LOVE for you to join us in donating food too! This is so exciting!!

I’m in. I’ve been stuck at my current wight, but I have kept off the 60 pounds I shed for a year now. My goal is to get off the appetite suppressants and do this on my own. Here I go! Kind of scared! Do NOT want to go back up the scales!
Cris @ GOODEness Gracious
Welcome to the challenge! And congrats on your weight loss
You can do it… chuck those pills and join us!

I am so with you! I have to be in a wedding next spring and then my 10 year reunion is coming up in 2014 and I want to be rocking the same body even though I’ve had two kids!
Cris @ GOODEness Gracious
Welcome! Totally know you can do it lady! Rock it!
Donya
Best wishes on your Year2Change weight loss goal! I’ll be cheering you on each step of the way!
Love the blog idea for this challenge, and hoping that you two will inspire other young parents to step out and make their own positive changes to influence the lives of their children!
Cris @ GOODEness Gracious
Thanks so much for your support and that is our hope too!

You know what, I’m in too. I just stopped breastfeeding and I need to at least stay where I am. Not to mention my need to get Miss Kate hooked on foods other than pasta and O-cereals. Here we go, Roadrunner Food Bank!
Cris @ GOODEness Gracious
Yay! Love it! And LOVE that you want to involve your food bank!
Meggie
Good for you guys! This is awesome. You can totally count on my support and encouragement! Big D and I made a committment a few weeks ago to eat healthier, turns out we live a pretty carb heavy lifestyle. So we’re focusing on eating more fresh veggies and protein, no more french fries and far, far less pasta. Can’t wait to follow your journey! You go girl!!
Cris @ GOODEness Gracious
Thanks so much!

My 2013 goal is to lose weight and keep it off. My goal, 60 pounds to go!
Valerie
I’ll be following along!
I haven’t ironed out my yearly goal(s) yet, but I look forward to coming along on the journey! (Health/weight is a goal us too!)
